BLUE GENES  Blues in Israel

Miri Goldschlag (singer)  Israeli born blues singer from a family of U.S. Immigrants. English is her mother language. Miri puts a lot of her jazz influence into her blues singing, scatting and song writing. Graduated from the Academy of Music & Dancing, Jerusalem and Boston (with a degree in art therapy).  She teached jazz in the most famous Israeli performing art schools (Talma Yalin, Beit Zwi). She teaches dancing teachers too, using her own original pedagogical method.  

Jean-Yves Slon (guitar, slide guitar, harmonica)  French bluesman, song writer, music producer and arranger, recording studio owner.  His influences are Buddy Guy, Duane Allman, Hound Dog Taylor, Sonny Terry. Teached music, stage technics, creation and improvisation to musician teenagers. He is a graphic artist too.

Slava Koopchik (drums) and Kostya Aidelkend (bass)  Slava and Kostya were born and educated in the former USSR. They are both music teachers.

 

Israeli Blues scene Miri and J-Y started to write songs together in 1999. They perform actually mainly in Tel Aviv area with Slava Koopchik (drums) and Kostya Aidelkend (bass)

Repertoire: Blues and R&B originals and standards in English and Hebrew. A traditional Chicago blues sound with reminiscent flavors of modern jazz (Miri's scat) , pure Delta blues roots intonations (slide guitar, harmonica)...
